Pat has spent a large part of her life working in farming, gaining lots of practical experience in handling large animals, especially pigs, cows and horses. Needless to say, her chosen working companions over the last 20 years have been German Shepherds!
The first in a long line of distinguished friends and companions was Sheeba, who not only worked with sheep, but, was also a well known Agility and Obedience competitor in her day. Sheebie was soon joined by Hannah, who as well as being an Agility dog, was an exceptional member of the the team working with outdoor pigs. To live and work with these fabulous dogs was a privilege beyond compare.
The amazing bond that developed between Pat and the Shepherds inspired her to use her experience and begin a programme of study that would lead to Companion Animal Behaviour studies at Southampton University.
Pat holds qualifications in both agriculture,
psychology and animal behaviour. She has recently submitted an MSc project
in GSD behaviour and is especially interested in GSD style of tending sheep.
She works as part time tutor on the Post Graduate
Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling Diploma at University of Seton and
is tutor of Applied Learning Theory Consultant to global clients
positive reinforcement training projects, consultant to local veterinary
practices and to other animal behaviourists.
She currently owns 2 GSD's with who she is involved
in working trials.
