I
have owned and bred German Shepherd Dogs since the early 1970's- more recently
under the affix of "Inkabijou".
My
association with the breed began with my first shepherd "Ludwig" and later
"Ishca" - we had lots of fun in obedience and it was with these dogs that
I began breeding. We have both bred and exhibited our dogs on a limited
basis, breeding only for the next generation of family dogs. Primarily
the dogs are here as pets and loyal companion dogs.
Life here revolves
around the dogs, they like it that way and so do we. We currently own German
Shepherd Dogs ~ "Optikas Eleah avec Inkabijou", "Inkabijous Crae Ze Daize"
(in partnership with Byallyside GSD's) and Rottweilers "Molly" (Heaven
Scent at Inkabijou) and "Yoda" (Beawize Running Free At Inkabijou).
Although
we now no longer breed, we are actively involved with both GSD's and Rotties
through the various Breed Clubs of which we are members. We are strong
believers in promoting responsible ownership and breeding through education.
In common with most breeders, 95% of our puppies were sold to family homes
and we aim to provide a life-time of after sales service to both the dogs
and their owners.
My other interests (also doggie related) is my
20 years+ involvement with GSD rehoming in the area in which we live. I
work closely with other animal rescue organisations both locally and nationally
and am involved in promoting the Dogs Trust "Give a dog a home" campaign
in our region.
Since leaving work as a registered
clinical nurse in order to spend more time with 'the family' I have tried
to combine my professional skills with my interest in the dogs attending
seminars, study days, workshops and more recently studies in animal health
care and dog behaviour.
I am an Associate Member of
the Institute of Animal Care (MIACE) and The Canine Behaviour Centre
with a certificate in Dog Psychology and Advanced Animal Health Care. I
am also an Accredited Canine Temperament Assessor, and Qualified Micro
chip implanter.
